With the increase in use of Electronic Health Records over the past few years, there has also been an increase in technological advancements to assist with medical coding productivity and accuracy. Computer-Assisted Coding (CAC) uses natural language processing (NLP) to select medical diagnosis, procedure and phrases within the patient’s chart to match the ICD-10 and CPT codes. With this technology, one may wonder if the overall CAC pays out in the end. We will compare the advantages and disadvantages.
