Clearing cached and saved Windows credentials - IST Knowledge Base (2024)

Using cached/saved credentials allows users to sign into their accounts without having to enter their credentials every time. However, outdated or incorrect cached credentials can cause sign in problems and lead to a potentially locked account. This article contains step-by-step instructions for how to clear cached credentials on Windows devices.

Windows 10

1. Press the Windows key on the keyboard or click the Windows Start icon.

2. Start typing Credential Manager, and select the Credential Manager icon.
   

3. On the resulting screen you will see the choice to manage your Web Credentials or your Windows Credentials.
   

4. Deleteany credentials under the Windows Credentials grouping that refer to NEXUS.Click on the down arrow associated with the saved credentialsand if you see an entry with NEXUS\ or nexus\ and your username, choose the option toRemove.

2. Press and holdCtrl+Shift+Deletekeys simultaneously

3. The Clear Browsing Datadialog box opens

4. Click Advanced and change the Time frame to All time

5. Check the Passwords and other sign-in data box

6. Click Clear data

7. Close the Google Chrome window

Mozilla Firefox

1. Open a Run dialog by holding yourWindows+Rkeys simultaneously

2. TypeFirefox --preferencesand pressEnter

3. Click theSecurityicon on theOptionsdialog box

4. Click theSaved Passwords...button and a list of saved passwords will be displayed

5. Click theRemove Allbuttonand then clickClose

   1. This returns you toOptions >ClickOKto close the dialog box
