Do you need orders to clear CIF? ›

Orders are not required to schedule any appointments. But are needed to execute turn-in. Requirements to in-process CIF (DA Pam 710-2-1, Para 10-8): Prior to in-processing CIF, service member should review his/her OCIE records and bring a hard copy of the unit assignment orders.

Under CIF, the seller is responsible for covering the costs, insurance, and freight of the buyer's shipment while in transit. The buyer is responsible for any costs once the freight has reached the buyer's destination port.

Background and Additional Information: The Central Issue Facility (CIF) system provides precise management of Organizational Clothing and Individual Equipment (OCIE).

Soldiers can turn in OCIE without clearing papers as long as they have orders or a memorandum authorizing clearing without orders signed by the Commander. Once clearing papers are received, return and CIF will stamp the papers. No one will be allowed to sign in after 1130 hours.

The key to clearing CIF the first time is to make sure your OCIE is clean, spot painted where needed and all markings are removed. Our goal is to have your clearance complete in one visit, but you must do your part.

No, it's the buyer's responsibility. CIF does not include any import duties, VAT, or taxes. It does include all export requirements. Under CIF, the seller must export and pay the costs to ship to your destination port, but you must import and pay all costs associated with the importation.

For delicate surfaces and materials, any new/unusual type of usage, painted surfaces, and aluminium, test Cif cream cleaner on an inconspicuous area first, rinse immediately after use, and avoid heavy rubbing.

CIF in shipping does not cover customs clearance, import duties, or taxes imposed by the destination country. These costs and obligations are typically the responsibility of the buyer.
