PATNA: Train passengers have been advised to carry proper documents of the cash they are carrying, if the amount is more than Rs 50,000. All the four superintendents of railway police deployed in the state were directed by the railways' additional director general of police (ADG) to constitute special investigation teams for ensuring that no unidentified cash, liquor, firearms and explosives are carried by trains during elections.
According to the data shared by the office of Bihar chief electoral officer on Tuesday, over Rs 17 lakh was seized by the flying squads and state police besides the static surveillance teams. The teams have also recovered and seized 37,202.78 litres of liquor, 60.6kg marijuana, besides 27 firearms and 147 cartridges. A total of 155 FIRs have been lodged in this regard.
One case for the misuse of vehicle, two cases for the violation of Loudspeaker Act, one for holding illegal meeting and six others have been registered since the enforcement of model code of conduct in the state.
Over 12,397 people were made to write a bond under preventive section of the CrPC and 12 hamlets were identified as vulnerable. Altogether 1,281 non-bailable warrants were executed and eight persons were identified as possible troublemakers by the state police to maintain law and order during the Lok Sabha elections.
Twenty-four firearms with 73 cartridges besides three explosives were also seized by the state police. Altogether 191 licensed arms were deposited while one was impounded by the competent authorities across the state.
