Is there a way to cancel AP scores? ›

How to cancel your AP Exam Scores. 1. Students should submit the Score Cancellation Form filled out correctly with their parent/guardian's signature. 2. Mail or fax the form to the address on the form by June 15 of the year you took the exam.

For top colleges, your course rigor and the grades you get in those courses are what really count. So, if you didn't get the results you wanted, don't sweat it too much. Rather than cancel, you might consider just not reporting the score.

If you cancel an AP exam score, then it will be permanently deleted from the College Board records. Colleges cannot see whatever was deleted. What colleges will see is that you completed this AP course in this academic year (shown in your transcript), but the AP exam score is dated by the different year.

Canceling your AP® Exam score permanently deletes it—it cannot be reinstated at a later time. Scores may be canceled at any time.

Your cancellation request will be processed within 15 business days of receipt. Please allow for delays, especially if you are mailing from overseas. Once processed, you will see the cancellation reflected on your online AP score report.

Unlike withholding, canceling an AP score is permanent and cannot be reversed. Students typically choose cancellation over withholding if they don't want a school to know they ever took that AP exam. To cancel an AP score, you must download the AP Score Cancellation Form.

To cancel a score is to completely remove it from the College Board's and your record. For that reason, you should not cancel unless you are certain that you never want anyone to know you took the exam in the future.

The college will not do anything for a bad AP score. This means they will not rescind your admission, but they also won't let you skip the class. All it shows is that you tried to take a college level class and didn't do well on the exam that covered the content in the class. That's it.

The first thing that you should do is check the AP Score credit policy for the colleges that you are applying to. If they will give you credit for the 3, then by all means report it! On the other hand, if they only give credit for a 5 on that exam (not even for a 4), you may want to hold off.

And if your scores are on your application, admissions committees will see them. Similarly, if you have any low AP scores you'd prefer admissions committees not see, you don't have to (and shouldn't) report them on your application.

Although the College Board reports all AP test results to us, students should be aware AP test scores lower than 3 will not adversely affect their chances for admission.

If a student does not take an AP course at their high school and instead self-studies for the exam, admissions officers will not expect to see a score. As such, it's safe for students not to report a score for such an exam if it's lower than they had hoped.

They can let you know if there's a specific deadline and the steps you need to follow to cancel the exam officially. If you do decide to cancel after the AP Exam ordering deadline (usually in November), you may not get a full refund as the College Board charges a cancellation fee.

At most colleges, your AP score report goes straight to the registrar's office; admissions never sees it. While you obviously will not get credit for a 2, it will not pacts your admissions decision. But if you do bad, you can lower your average and potentially lose out on getting an ap scholar.

Unused/canceled exam fee

The $40 fee applies to any unused or canceled exam, including an exam ordered for a student who qualifies for a College Board fee reduction. It's important to tell your AP coordinator if you decide not to take an exam. This fee doesn't apply if you transfer out of a school.
