Can hair clippers be used for beards? There are many hair clippers on the market that claim to be able to be used for beard trimming. But can they really?
The answer is yes and no. That’s the classic “sitting on the fence” response.
Many of these clippers claim that they can be used for trimming facial hair with a “beard trimmer”. That’s part of the reason why they are so popular. The reality is, that most hair clippers aren’t nearly as good at trimming facial hair as an actual beard trimmer.
Actually, a beard trimmer might even be better than scissors. That could be a benefit if you are a man with long hair. Probably not as much of a benefit if you have short hair.
Some of the best beard trimmers on the market can be used for beard trimming and styling. The Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer 9100 would “fit this scenario. Most of them come with a variety of attachments that make it easy to get a neat look.
But some cheaper trimmers may not give you a clean cut. That means you might need to use scissors or a razor for finishing touches.
Can Hair Clippers Be Used For Beards? Here’s Some Food For Thought…

There’s more to it than being able to use hair clippers for trimming and styling a beard.
It’s claimed some hair clippers are able to cut through an unruly beard in just three passes, which is true.
But there’s also a lot more going into it than just being fast with your beard-cutting.
You need to have good quality blades, sharp enough so that they don’t get stuck in your beard and handles that don’t get tired too quickly.
You want to avoid getting frayed after a few passes. And you need to follow all the safety guidelines for when you are using these things.
If all of do’s work well, then you should have no problem using your hair clipper as an efficient tool for trimming and shaping your beard (the same goes for scissors).
And if you do end up cutting through your beard, then there is still more.
Most models claim they can cut cleanly through thick growth at any angle.
While this isn’t always true (we saw one model advertised as being able to cut down through 12-inch stubble), it is definitely possible.
That’s especially if you use a scalpel or special scissors designed specifically for cutting very thick hair like those sold by Philips Norelco.
In other words, while not as versatile as scissors, a good hairdresser will consider their haircutting equipment valuable regardless of its ability to shave stubble from long hairstyles like a Dreadlock Moustache.
The fact that some models claim these qualities doesn’t mean that all such models are good ones – but some of them certainly are!
Reviewing 3 Beard Trimmers

Let’s look at some examples:
Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer 9100 – This is branded as a “beard trimmer” and it certainly looks like one.
It is designed to perform well in terms of cutting or curling your beard. But it doesn’t do a very good job at trimming facial hair.
And, like most other brands, it doesn’t really deliver on its promise.
That’s being able to cut facial hair with a clipper. In fact, it only does so with a lot more force than you would ever want from a regular pair of scissors.
As such, the product isn’t actually great for cutting facial hair.
What’s Your Choice Of Trimmers?

Braun Aftershave Hair Clipper – This one costs much more than the Norelco but does something similar in terms of performance. It cuts facial hair with use of an electric motor instead of battery power.
But again, once you get past the initial shock of not having battery power and start thinking about how much you actually need from this type of device, you will find that this one is no better than any other cheap hair clipper out there.
It doesn’t have the same cutting ability or fit for purpose design as an actual beard trimmer or scissors and won’t cut your facial hair nearly as well.
Braun All-In-One Trimmer – Some people even say that this model performs as well as an actual beard trimmer! Again, it isn’t quite at par with some high-end models but nothing else out there offers anything like what this model offers.
It is a pretty decent clipper for cutting facial hair by itself (in addition to its ability which makes other products seem inferior). But these types of devices don’t cut facial hair very well by themselves and will require additional accessories (like an electric shaver) for best results.
Conclusion: Can Hair Clippers Be Used For Beards?

Beard clippers are a grooming tool essential for many men. They are used to maintain short or long facial hair.
One of the most important aspects to remember about beard clippers is that they need regular maintenance and cleaning to keep them in good condition.
The maintenance and cleaning process consists of two steps: regular cleaning and deep cleaning.
The first step involves removing excess hair from the blade with a dry cloth. The second step involves using a lubricant or oil on the blades to remove any residue from previous shaves.
Also, clean out any hair buildup from the blades regularly with a brush or comb. Use warm soapy water to wash off any excess hair build up or oils on the blades of your clippers.
And make sure that you rinse off all soap residue after washing your beard clipper with warm soapy water.
Beard trimmers are tools which are perfectly suited for trimming your beard. The main difference between beard trimmers and hair clippers is that while a hair clipper has no blades at all, a beard trimmer has one blade that comes with it.
Most beards are short. However, there are some who have their beards longer. Or even too short. That’s why they need a different type of trimming instrument to be used in order to get them looking their best.
A mustache trimmer is perfect for those who have thick mustaches. Many people use these trimmers during their daily grooming process.
Furthermore, some people prefer using a full length mirror to see how their facial hair looks when they look down on it from above. This can make the look much more appealing.
