Clearance & Shipping
Prior to processing your payment, JM Bullion will manually screen your order for authentication purposes. Fortunately, unlike checks and bank wires whose payments can take up to a week to clear, clearance for payments made with credit or debit cards are typically completed within one business day.
After your payment has been processed, your order is instantly sent to the shipping queue for wrapping and packaging. An email notification will be sent to you once your item has been shipped. This email will provide you with all of the necessary information for tracking your package within the My Account area of our website.
Fees
One drawback of purchasing gold and silver with a credit or debt card is the associated fees. Many credit card companies charge merchant fees up to 4%, which can be a significant cost for a low margin industry such as precious metals. As a result, this cost is passed on to the customer. For customers who prefer to avoid credit card fees altogether, we recommend paying with a paper check or bank wire, which is why we offer a 4% discount on purchases made with those particular forms of payment.
Security
JM Bullion takes the utmost care when it comes to protecting the security of both your purchase and your credit card information. To prevent any fraudulent credit card activity, we will only accept this method of payment on orders of $5,000 or less. We also require that the shipping address of your purchase match your credit card billing address. Failure to provide the appropriate shipping address will result in the delay or cancellation of your order. Customers wishing to ship their order to a different mailing address will not be allowed to make their purchase with a credit/debit card and will be asked to use bank wire or paper checks as an alternate form of payment.
Those paying with either a Visa or MasterCard are eligible for even more protection due to our participation in both the Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode programs. Upon entering your credit card information, the system will verify whether your Visa or MasterCard is enrolled in either of these programs. Once enrollment is confirmed, you will be prompted to answer some security questions for identification purposes. Such questions may include your social security number or your mother’s maiden name. Those customers who are not enrolled in the program will have the opportunity to create their own MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa PIN. Please note that in both cases, JM Bullion has absolutely no access to your confidential information and that this exchange is strictly between you and the Visa or MasterCard company.
Another advantage of using a credit/debit card to purchase gold and silver is the additional protection from credit card companies. Credit card companies can protect customers against potential issues such as mail theft, damaged products and non-receipt of products via the chargeback method. Although you are always safe when dealing with JM Bullion, as every package we ship is sent with full shipping insurance, many customers prefer having this added level of protection.
