Is 700 words enough for a blog? ›

Some content marketing experts suggest that 1500-2000 words are the ideal length of a blog post. However, many companies and brands stick to shorter blog length guidelines (500-750 words) to honor a specific element of their marketing strategy.

At the very least, if you're going to write short blogs, try to hit at least the 300-word mark. A post between 400-600 words is widely considered the “standard” length, and it's a good middle ground if you're looking to get more social shares and comments.

Basically, the internet says a good blog post is anywhere from 300-3,000+ words long. That's not exactly a helpful range. To get a more data-supported range, we looked at our top 10 posts from the last year and from the last three years. We found our best-performing blog posts average 2,700-3,000 words.

Aim to make your posts roughly 1,500 – 2,500 words: that's the best length for blog posts, generally. If it's a straightforward topic, 1,000 words is fine. (And it's okay to include even shorter posts from time to time, too.)

Some people can turn out a 500-word blog post in 30 minutes — and some people can't even do it in hours. It depends on the writer and how familiar they are with the topic. Freelance writers working in the industry can write a 500-word article in less than 1 hour.

Shorter (300-500 words): These provide high-level information about the company, such as its mission, values, and history. It's important to note that while word count can influence SEO, it's not the only search engine optimization factor.

According to a HubSpot study from 2021, the ideal blog post length for SEO should be 2,100-2,400 words. That's a lot longer than the 200- or 500-word blog posts most writers or webmasters think is ideal.

The ideal blog post length is between 1,500 - 2,500 words, with a sweet spot right at 2,450. When you stay within this average, your articles are more likely to rank higher on search engines, get more social media shares and backlinks.

At a very minimum, a blog post should be at least 500 words, but if you want to have any chance to rank highly on Google SERPs, you're gonna want to get to at least 1,000, and hopefully closer to 2,000, or even 3,000 words depending on the query.

Although your blog post length may vary depending on your topic and audience, it is often best to aim for about 1,500 to 2,000 words for articles or posts.

Although both statements are true, you cannot overlook that a few pages are fundamental for every website, including blogging ones.

Estimating the time required for crafting a high-quality 700-word blog post depends upon various factors, such as existing knowledge of the subject matter and overall skill level in writing. A seasoned author with ample experience might only require around 90 minutes to create a brief and engaging article.

600 - 800 words: This range is most common in professional journalism and in newspaper articles. Also, product description and encyclopedia entries often fall in this word count window. These articles can begin to get you some shares and backlinks. 1,300 - 1,700 words: Here you will often find “What is ...” blog posts.
