Eilish told Rolling Stone that she got her first tattoo on January 27, 2020, the day after she swept the Grammy Awards. At the time, she was 18 years old.
As described by reporter Brittany Spanos, the singer got her own middle name, "Eilish," in an "ornate, gothic font, in the middle of her chest." (Herfull legal name is Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell.)
However, Eilish herself has never debuted the design in public. In October 2020, sheeven told fans they "won't ever see it."
One year later, during a filmed interview with Vanity Fair, she confirmed the tattoo's placement by pointing to the spot on her chest.
Of the design's inspiration, she said simply: "Yes, I love myself."

Fans first caught a glimpse of Eilish's thigh tattoo in a photo shoot withBritish Vogue, published in May 2021, though she told Rolling Stone that she got it six months prior.
