What is Standardised Base Rate (SBR)?
With reference to theReferenceRate Framework (RRF) Policy Document, SBR is a common base rate introduced by Bank Negara Malaysia for all banks with effect from 1st August 2022 in the pricing of new retail loans/financings pegged to base rates, refinancing of existing retail loans/financings, and the renewal of revolving retail loans/financings from 1st August 2022.
Pursuant to this revision, the SBR and the reference rate will be the same rate and will be benchmarked to the OPR, which is determined by BNM’s Monetary Policy Committee.
