With OneDrive, you can sync files between your computer and the cloud, so you can get to your files from anywhere - your computer, your mobile device, and even through the OneDrive website at OneDrive.com.

You can access your synced folders in OneDrive from anywhere. If you make changes to a folder, the changed folder will be automatically synced to OneDrive. And if you want to view the folder without a network, you can set your folder to be viewable offline in the file explorer.

For both File Explorer and Mac Finder, if you want to copy the item rather than move it, right-click the file or folder and select Copy, then open the OneDrive folder (or sub-folder) and right-click > Paste a copy of the item to OneDrive.

Make Sure Your Folder Is Designated To Sync

To check which folders are syncing, open the OneDrive settings window. On the “Accounts” tab, select “Choose Folders.” Make sure you can find your synced folder and that it is marked for syncing.

Select the OneDrive tile. Select Shared from the menu on the left. Under Shared with you, select the folder you wish to sync. In the top toolbar, select Sync.

In File Explorer, go to the files you want to copy. Select the files, and then drag and drop them into your OneDrive folder. Blue circular arrows beside your files mean that they're syncing to the cloud.

Select the files you want to upload and drag them to OneDrive in the File Explorer Navigation pane. Select File > Save a Copy > OneDrive - Personal.

OneDrive may not be syncing a file because it's open and in use by another application. The fix for this is simple: Just close the file in question and give OneDrive a moment to process the update. Once the file is synced, you should then be able to open it again and resume your work.

To download a OneDrive file or folder so it is always available on your device, right‑click the file, and select Always keep on this device. NOTE: Downloading files will use storage space on your device, but they will always be available—even when you are offline.
