In Planner, you can attach files, photos, and links directly to the tasks themselves, making the plan a central location for everyone to collaborate and get work done.
To see a list of all files or photos that you've attached to Planner tasks, select the three dots to the right of the plan name (...), and then choose Files. These files are stored in the SharePoint document library associated with your plan's Microsoft 365 Group.
Note:If you've just created your plan, Planner may still be setting up your plan's SharePoint document library. If you see a message about this, you'll need to wait a bit before attaching files.
Add an attachment
To attach a file or link, select the task to bring up its details, click Add attachment, and then choose File, Link, or SharePoint.
File: Upload a document or file from your local computer. Files you upload are stored in the SharePoint document library associated with your plan.
Link: Fill in a URL and the text you'd like displayed in Planner.
SharePoint: Choose files already stored in the SharePoint document library associated with your plan.
The first time you attach a photo, it will automatically become the task's preview picture. If you'd prefer a document as the preview picture for the task, click Show on card for the document. The preview picture is shown on the Board, and offers a quick way to identify the task and get to work. Want to change the preview picture for a task?
Work on the attachment
After you've attached an Office file, you can click the file link shown on the card to open it in Microsoft 365 for the web.

If you want to work on an Office file that you're not using as the preview, select the task to bring up its details, and then choose the file name for the file you want to work on.
To attach a file or link, select the task to bring up its details, click Add attachment, and then choose File, Link, or SharePoint. File: Upload a document or file from your local computer.
Select From computer to attach a locally saved file, select From team files to attach a file from Microsoft Teams, or select A link to a URL to include a file link or URL.
Select any assignment card to open it and view the assignment's details. Tip: Select the Expansion icon (diagonal, double sided arrow) to work in full-screen mode. If your educator specified a document for you to turn in, or if you have other files to attach to this assignment, select +Add work and upload your file.
To link tasks in a specific order, press Ctrl and then click each individual task in the order that you want them linked.Then press Ctrl+F2, or click Link Tasks in the Editing group on the Task tab.
In Forms, open a form or quiz. Click Add question and enter your request for information. Next to the question, click the Down arrow and select File upload. If prompted, review the uploading information and click Continue.
when you attach local files to a Planner task, they are stored in the root directory of the associated SharePoint. Unfortunately, there's currently no option to set a default save location to a specific subfolder.
Drag an item to the Tasks icon in the Navigation Pane. Tip: To add the item as an attachment to a new task instead of pasting the text into the task body, right-click the item and drag it to the task list, and then select Copy Here as Task with Attachment.
Select To Do from the left navigation pane. Select the task you want to add a file to. Choose + Add a file from the task details pane and follow the prompts to upload a file from your device.
