Why is my Atomic Wallet not working? ›

Make sure you're using the latest version of our app. We're constantly working on improving the app's performance, so it's important to keep your Atomic Wallet up to date. Check your system's version. Are there any updates available for your operating system you might have previously put off?

How does the 12-word phrase work? The only way to change your 12-word phrase is to create a new Atomic Wallet. For each wallet, a 12-word backup phrase is generated only once and creates the private-public key pairs for all the coins.

Your assets are stored on the blockchain.

Since Atomic Wallet is just an intermediary between you and the blockchain, your coins aren't stored by us. You're free to export your private keys anytime, and your funds wouldn't be put at any risk if our company was to close down.

Because Atomic Wallet is non-custodial, users are expected to ensure the safety of their own 12-word backup phrase and private keys. These are stored locally on their device, where they are strongly encrypted. Atomic won't ask for any personal information, so you can stay relatively anonymous while using the wallet.

Atomic Wallet is a cold wallet type, all passwords and data are stored on the user's device and it is not kept at any server, so there is no custody risks or the possibility of losing funds through centralized services. The main risk in Atomic Wallet is if you lose your backup phrase or send it to another person.

While Atomic Wallet does not support direct fiat withdrawals, you can transfer your crypto to an external exchange that offers this service. From there, sell your crypto for fiat and withdraw the money to your bank account, considering any fees, transaction limits, and processing times involved.

The hackers managed to exploit a vulnerability within the wallet's infrastructure, gaining unauthorized access to private keys and siphoning off user funds. The exact extent of the hack is still being determined, but preliminary reports suggest that millions of dollars' worth of cryptocurrencies were stolen.

If Atomic Wallet doesn't accept your 12-word phrase, the most likely explanation is that the phrase you're entering is incorrect. The 12-word backup is very sensitive. Spelling, word order, spaces (or lack thereof) must be precise or the wallet won't accept your 12-word phrase.

A 12-word seed phrase acts as a key to unlock access to a crypto wallet and is also the ultimate recovery tool for wallets on the blockchain.

Does Atomic Wallet automatically deduct taxes? No, as of 2024, Atomic Wallet does not automatically deduct taxes from crypto trades. However, Atomic Wallet might still report your crypto transactions to your country's tax authority, like the IRS or HMRC.

Can I have two atomic wallets? ›

The only option to have two wallets on one desktop device is to create separate user accounts and manage two (or more) different wallets under these separate user accounts on your computer. You will have to download Atomic Wallet only one.

Atomic Wallet is a non-custodial decentralized wallet. It means that you own your backup phrase and private keys, thus, you fully control your funds. We have no access to your wallet and your sensitive information.

Atomic Wallet offers more staking options, and the ability to swap between any supported tokens. Exodus offers a browser plug-in (which Atomic does not) and has a slicker interface. So the choice mostly comes down to personal preference, and if the app supports the blockchain and fiat options you need.

When the network is overloaded and lots of transactions are queued to get completed, some people will be willing to offer higher fees to make their transactions more appealing to miners and thus speed up the confirmation process.

We do not collect your personal data. Atomic is a decentralized app built on the open-source libraries. We do not partner with centralized services.

Connection issues

Most likely, there is a connection issue. Atomic Wallet connects directly to blockchain nodes to create a transaction. Sometimes, this connection can be unstable or blocked due to various reasons such as CloudFlare blocks or Internet speed instability.

Update the balances manually. To do so, go to the Wallet tab and click on the icon at the top-right corner. Relaunch the app. Click Exit on the left sidebar, hit the Yes button, and launch the app again.

Check your internet connection. In case your connection is unstable or too slow, the wallet app may fail to update the balance.
