AdMob is Google’s advertising platform for promoting and monetizing mobile applications. Similar to MoPub, it allows application developers to promote their applications through in-app ads, monetize their applications by enabling in-app advertising, and provides intelligent insights through Google Analytics.
AdMob is available for Android and iOS platforms, with support for Unityand Cocosgaming engines. Your AdMob account connects with your AdWords account to distribute your ads for your Android, iOS, or gaming applications.
By connecting AdMob to AdWords, you cancreate mobile app install campaigns. These campaigns are specific to getting more people to download your app, with AdWords applying custom targeting, keywords, and ads based on your app ID and miscellaneous information. One unique feature of this mobile advertising platform is AdMob Mediation, which allows you to create house ad campaigns (campaigns that serve ads to your app using your own inventory, free of charge).
You can easily evaluate your campaign performance by tracking installs as conversions. AdMob fully integrates with Google Analytics, allowing you to access all the metrics and dimensions that matter to your application– user acquisition, engagement, revenue, screen views, sessions, app version, screen size and more. You can also segment your audiences to gain perspectiveon how people use your application.

Hi, I am about to use a third party monetization platform to serve third party ads. However, I want to still run a specific Campaign for an ad Partnership. We have an Admanager account that I use to currently load new ads into. If i take out the old SDK and replace it with the new Platform SDK, Will i still be able to Implement my ad campaign?

Thanks for the article, I want to know, if I make an app of my site (which has Google adsense), can I use admob to monetize it? Or I’ll have to use adsense for mobile app too?

I wonder how Admob chooses which ad to show on my app when I act as a publisher?
Do they have the same system like Adsense where there is an auction or do they use any other technique for this cause?
Looking forward to hearing from you as I’m stuck at this point in my project.Log in to Reply

Is it free to sign up to Admob?
Is it okay if we sign up to Admob and only use the one where we get paid by them placing the add on your own app? And not use the part when your app will be advertised by paying 0.5$ – 1.5$.Log in to Reply

Hi Royce,
Yes, it’s possible to sign up for AdMob without having to pay for advertising. Here is a link to a forum that may be of better assistance: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/17964104/are-googles-admob-advertisem*nts-free-to-show-in-your-android-app

Hi Kasey,
How is it different from a Google Adwords display campaign targeted at just mobiles? Can I not just have a mobile app installs campaign using Adwords?
Also, if you could just highlight the differences between Adwords and Admob, in the context of mobile ads.
Cheers

Hi Sherry,
If you’re asking how to get started with AdMob, all you have to do is sign up! You can read more about monetization options on the AdMob Monetize web page: https://www.google.com/admob/monetize.html

With AdMob, you pay for your app to be installed. I’ve found many forums that report about $0.50-$1.50 cost per install. You get paid when you allow ads to show in your app. When you reach the minimum payment threshold, you are eligible to for your earnings to be automatically sent to you. Processing can sometimes take 2-3 weeks.
