Apex Legends Season 16 Release Date

Season 16 of Apex Legends released on February 14, 2023.

Apex Legends Season 16 Class System Rework

The class system as you know it in Apex Legends might look a whole lot different in Season 16. The Apex Legend's current four class system will be broken down into a five class system:

• Assault
• Controller
• Recon
• Skirmisher
• Support

The aim of this class system rework is to create more specificity within the Offensive and Defensive classes, while beefing up the Support class roster a smidge.

Season 16 Class Perks

Every Legend Class now has an associated gameplay perk that grants the Legends of that class access to new strategic options in the game.

At the casual level, these benefits will be fun bonuses. At higher levels of play, the make-up of your Squad will determine exactly what you can all access and be capable of, and what you cannot.

Apex Legends Season 16 New Legend

Previously, every new season of Apex Legends debuted a new Legend. It has been confirmed that there will be no new Legend for Apex Legends Season 16. With the class system rework undoubtedly bound to rock the meta of Apex Legends, throwing a new Legend into the mix was forgone for this newest season.

Apex Legends New Game Mode: Team Deathmatch

Starting with the launch of Season 16 on February 14, 2023, a new Team Deathmatch game mode will be replacing Arena in Apex Legends.

A battle between two teams of six, TDM will be available for the first three weeks of the season. With players being able to select their Legend, their loadouts, and with respawns occuring automatically after death, this is a frenetic game mode.

The first team to score 30 kills wins the round, and the first team to win two rounds wins the match. Loadouts will shuffle in between rounds.

Apex Legends New Playlist: Mixtape

A new playlist called Mixtape will be arriving in Apex Legends on March 7, 2023. This will be a permanent playlist that features a variety of different Apex Legends LTM's on a rotating schedule. The Mixtape playlist will kick off after Team Deathmatch's spotlight which is the first three weeks of Season 16.

Apex Legends New Weapon: Nemesis

Say hello to a new Energy weapon in Apex Legends Season 16... the Nemesis. Developers Steve Ferreira and Evan Nikolich state that the intent behind designing this weapon is to rival the R-301 Carbine and Flatine for popularity.

This energy class assault rifle fires 4 rounds per burst, and has a ramping burst delay that decreases the time between bursts, eventually simulating a fully automatic weapon.

Apex Legends Firing Range Rework

The Firing Range is getting a spiffy new look for Season 16 with the intention of making it more beginner-friendly to first-time players. Look out for new Dummy Challenges and Stat Tracking as part of your Firiing Range experience in Season 16.

Here are the following implementations for the Firing Range within Season 16:

• Added options to customize your firing range experience
• Dummies can now strafe left and right! You control how fast they move, whether they should crouch, and their shield level.
• Dynamic stats appear any time you deal damage, letting you track your performance.
• Hit indicators help you keep track of spray patterns.
• Unlimited ammo means no more trips back to the gun racks to reload.

Apex Legends Bots Introduced to Battle Royale

Apex Legends developers have confirmed that Season 16 will introduce the use of bots mixed into the player pool in Battle Royale specifically for brand new Apex Legends players. Rather than throwing beginners straight into the Battle Royale mix with veteran players, this new implentation of AI-controlled bot enemy players aims to ease new players into Apex Legends without overwhelming them.

Apex Legends Season 16 New Events

Seeing as Apex Legends Season 16 is expected to launch on February 14, the day of love itself, it is believed that the new season will kick off with a Valentine's Day event. This would not be the first time that Apex Legends hosted a Valentine's-themed event. Based on a screenshot leak from Reddit user sAmdong71, it is expected that a "Date Night" Duos mode might appear during 2023's Valentine's Day event. This Duos mode would feature an AOE healing mechanic between you and your Duo, plus the limited-time weapon, The Heart Stealer.

The next Anniversary Event for Apex Legends is set for Season 16. While there has been some speculation as to what new cosmetics might debut during the Season 16 Anniversary Event, the contents of the event as well as the release date are still unannounced.

Legends Changes

Seer

• Passive - Heartbeat Sensor
  • Audio from Seer’s passive is now more audible to enemy players
  • Activation is now delayed to match raise animation of weapon or unarmed
  • Lock-On indication will now only show on heartbeat cadence of target
• Tactical - Focus of Attention
  • No longer shows full body scan on scanned targets
• Ultimate - Exhibit
  • No longer reveals on initiation
  • Duration reduced from 30s to 25s
  • Cooldown increased from 120s to 180s

Bloodhound

• Passive - Tracker
  • Ethereal White Ravens will now occasionally spawn near Bloodhound when no enemies are around.
  • White Ravens can be interacted with or scanned to trigger them to fly towards the nearest enemy player
  • The White Raven will leave a misty trail behind for Bloodhound to follow, and will share this direction with their team on the map.
  • Using a White Raven will recover 25% Tactical / Ultimate charge
  • Scanning a White Raven will fully refund the Tactical Charge
• Tactical - Eye of the Allfather
  • Reduced full body scan time for 3s to 1s
  • Diamond target on scanned enemy is unchanged
• Ultimate - Beast of the Hunt
  • No longer recharges or speeds up the cooldown rate of Bloodhound’s Tactical
  • Will launch a White Raven that flies towards the nearest enemy
  • Killing an enemy while in Beast of the Hunt will also trigger a White Raven

Mirage

• Passive - Now you see me...
  • Mirage and his ally now remain cloaked after a revive for 3s
  • Weapons remain stowed while cloaked
  • Drawing your weapon will remove the cloaking effect early
• Mirage Clones
  • Bamboozles are now only triggered by bullet fire and melee
  • Enemies who are bamboozled now receive notification on their screen
  • Bamboozle icon marker now tracks the Bamboozled player’s movement
  • Bamboozle icon marker duration increased from 2.5s to 3.5s

Pathfinder

• Passive - Insider Knowledge
  • Pathfinder’s passive benefits are no longer gained by scanning Survey Beacons
  • Pathfinder’s passive benefits (Ultimate charge and 10s Ultimate Cooldown reduction) are now gained by revealing Care Packages with the Skirmisher ability
• Ultimate - Zipline Gun
  • Max Range increased by ~60%.
  • Max Speed increased by 66%.
  • Acceleration and exit speed adjustments.
  • Targeting improvements, including updated visual and audio cues.
  • Can no longer place the end station on OOB zones.

Wraith

• Ultimate - Dimensional Rift
  • Max Portal Distance has been doubled (~76m to 152m)
  • Portal Duration reduced from 60s to 45s
  • Wraith now increases speed over time when creating longer portals

Horizon

• Tactical - Gravity Lift
  • Increased weapon spread in Gravity Lift
  • Increased vertical speed of Gravity Lift by 10%

Lifeline

• Passive - Combat Revive
  • Reduced the slow penalty on Lifeline when initiating a revive
• Ultimate - Care Package
  • Decreased the drop animation speed of Care Package from 14s to 8s
  • Increased the deployment range of Care Package
