Apex Legends Guide | Tips to Improve your Aim (2024)
FIeld of View (FOV)
This is personal, but for a Battle Royale game like Apex Legends where the enemies can come from all sides, increasing it a bit might be a good idea. Between 90 – 105. (= 105 – 119 Hor. FOV) are about the limits.Just a fast reminder, for best settings for Apex Legends
High FOV
You see more of the visible world at any given moment, making objects smaller, keeping a better overview of your surroundings as enemies can come from any direction. Easier to compensate for recoil as the FOV is higher the weapon is smaller and so is the recoil pattern. Enemies are smaller and therefore harder to hit. Increases the pincushion effect as the object will be a lot bigger at the edge of your display than in the middle.
Low FOV
You see less of the visible world at any given moment, making objects bigger and details sharper making it easier to focus and spot enemies when you know where to look for. Weapon recoil patterns are harder to control. Enemies are bigger and easier to hit
Sprint Shake – Minimal
A given, you want your screen image to wobble as less as possible when sprinting.
Train holding and moving your mouse as swiftly and smoothly as possible for best crosshair placement on moving targets. Instead of running while you're shooting, practice sprinting, then standing still for a quick second to shoot.
Practice your aim with aim trainers or reflex games.
Alternatively, you can play reflex games like OSU, Beat Aim, or Audiosurf to improve your aiming skills. Playing an aim trainer or reflex game for 15-20 minutes a day is a great way to improve over time.
A 1.5 Mouse Sensitivity with 800 DPI to create an eDPI value of 1,200 is the best sensitivity for Apex Legends. A 1,200 eDPI is the average eDPI for professional Apex Legends players we track at Setup.gg. ADS Mouse Sensitivity is how fast your crosshair moves when aiming down the sights of a weapon.
Combat with enemies on the horizon is tricky, so try to position yourself before the fight with every advantage you can. High ground is almost always a good idea. And if you can get close unnoticed, call out a single enemy to focus fire on.
You're much harder to hit while you're moving. Always avoid starting a push across open terrain, cover is essential to protect you from flanking and other enemy squads. Use your squad's abilities to find higher positions with a good line of sight to an enemy squad before starting an engagement.
Simply start running and, when you hit top speed, slide and remove any directional input from WASD/left stick and tap jump to begin. Doing this maintains your momentum a little longer than if you had attempted a slide and stopped before beginning running again.
Recoil Smoothing: Strafe in one direction while aiming at a target that is moving the opposite way to reduce vertical recoil, or move the mouse gently in the direction of your fire to drastically reduce recoil.
Embrace a growth mindset, set SMART goals, invest in personal development, surround yourself with positive influences, and monitor your progress to ensure that you continue to strive for greatness. Aim high and watch yourself soar. Don't miss out!
