Apex Legends may not have a solo campaign or traditional story, but developer Respawn Entertainment has always managed to weave narrative and lore into its characters. The rivalry between Revenant and Loba is one example, while the relationship between Octane, Lifeline, and his father is another. And with Apex Legends' upcoming character Catalyst, that remains the case.
While it remains to be seen how Catalyst's relationship develops with the surrounding legends, it's clear from the onset that Catalyst is deeply connected to both Seer and Rampart. In fact, it seems Catalyst may be connected to Rampart's background, while Seer's birth ties to Catalyst's background too. This opens up the chance for some strong storytelling in Apex Legends, and Game Rant recently attended a preview event that discussed Catalyst's lore.

In regards to Apex Legends recon character Seer, it seems he is antagonistic toward Catalyst; he even seems to be working with Octane's father, Duardo Silva (an organizer of the Apex Games). Seer demands that it is fate she and him meet in the Apex Games, with Catalyst dismissing this (despite her obsession with crystals and foretelling). The reason why they are so antagonistic is interesting.
As seen in Apex Legends' reveal of Catalyst, she and her friends are seeking to protect Boreas' broken moon of Cleo, and that leads to Catalyst joining the Apex Games when they come to the moon. Seer was born on Boreas, but before his birth, he was foretold to bring suffering and pain to the world. The same night as his birth, a meteor struck Cleo and destroyed it. Hammond Industries is taking advantage of it, but supposedly, Seer's curse is what destroyed it.
Furthermore, one of Catalyst's friends is named Margo. It would seem that Margo dies in the trailer, but depending on when this exactly happens, it seems that maybe she didn't. Respawn Entertainment writer Ashley Reed seemingly chose her words carefully, describing Catalyst as a "big sister" type. And as many may recall, there is a mysterious and masked figure on the Apex Legends planet Gaea named Big Sister. Her gang attacks Rampart's shop in the latter's background story, but what's interesting here is that Margo and Big Sister share a lot of characteristics like hair and facial markings. It's pretty obvious that they are one and the same, but when asked, Reed laughed and said "no comment."
It'll be interesting to see how these connections develop throughout the next Apex Legends season and beyond, but the storytelling here through these characters is limitless.
