Another spec that we want to see!
Just I have been thinking how if we implement spec system to change the role + kit of the job for example:
Monk as Tank
Reaper as TankBard as healer
Dancer as healerDark knight as DPS
Gunbreaker as DPSas I see from trust that Wuk lamat turn to DPS warrior.. do you think this is possible?

I'd absolutely love to have Alisaie's redmage healer job.

I mean i would be shocked if the Literal Berserker (warrior doesnt can DPS) but then again with the amount of heal maybe its closed healer xD

It would be possible if they hyper condensed the absolutely neccessary Tank and Healer cooldowns into a separate role kit you access by taking on the role.
All melee's having the potential to Tank and maybe some kind of mix of casters and ranged that can Heal.
It would be quite a heavy undertakement since it would mean a lof of kit expansion to make current Tank/Healer roles into viable DPS.

I think this is the only way to have spec system with current design

Asari5
dragoon as tank (spear and shield)
dragoon as a really slow heavy hitting melee (glaive)
dragoon as magical dps (trident and water magic)07-10-2024, 06:39 PM
TheMightyMollusk
Sage as DPS. Let me go Nu Gundam on my foes.

I'd love to go back to Archer and have the class be some kind of Trapper/CC class. Or just a nuker.

This exists already in Variant Dungeons, your two duty actions can hold an action not related to your currently selected job's archetype.Quote:

It also exists by way of Logograms in Eureka or Lost Actions in Bozja. However these two have way more options to choose from compared to the Variant Dungeon selection - they still only use your duty action slots though. It's been a while so I may be forgetting if these are actually all that great to use (efficiency be damned) e.g. if you're a DPS intent on trying to tank stuff compared to a tank trying to DPS stuff.
It's possible they could expand on these but the devs must have a certain vision on what they want for regularly scheduled content and/or have a good reason to not go back to cross-class abilities.

healers are very specific when it comes to abilities

I'm reminded by two actions from Bozja: one called "Lost Seraph Strike" (Deal some damage, reduce your healing power but up your damage dealt) and another called "Lost Font of Magic" (ups your damage dealt but drains MP for its duration). Not sure what could be used for a healer trying to tank though.Quote:

The main issue with specs is ff14 already tried it with Arcanist and they clearly couldn't handle it because both SMN and SCH have lost the Arcanist identity of a Pet management dot mage.07-10-2024, 07:54 PM

You're not wrong there. There would need to be something more than what they've done for (I only have experience with WHM) healer's damage abilities. They'd have to add an extra piece of text to some abilities that say something like "Healing potency is converted to damage potency and can only affect enemies when [DPS spec name] is active" and then have to untangle and re-tangle some spaghetti code to make it all work in a style that would fit a caster DPS job.Quote:

Healers should be able to spec into Carpenter so they can build a bridge and get over it.

They can barely manage the now 21 jobs we already have and you want them to balance and create fun play styles for 42?

That is a really cool thought! I highly doubt this would be a popular choice from players, but it would be kinda interesting if we each had different "stance" buttons to switch roles and you could make the choice of role before you enter duty and it locks you into that just like it does now per job. You could have different hot bars per stance and during solo play, you could easily switch between then as long as your are not in combat.
I could see this working against the idea of jobs being their own unique thing, but I think it could be interesting. It would take way to much to work into the game right now though and its just fun brain food but I would have fun with it.

Would be cool to be able to tank as a samurai outside of Eureka/Bozja.

I think it would be cool to see a Chemist-like spec for the Machinist, where they heal and cure debuffs with potions. Not actual consumables, of course, but something part of their kit.

Don't blame them it's one of the best classes in an MMO ever.
