Allianz notes that its cancellation benefit is selectable, meaning customers can choose the level of cover that is required if cancellations occur; a common occurrence in our post-pandemic world. The cancellation cover applies from the moment a policy is purchased, so if the trip is unexpectedly cancelled or delayed, customers may still be covered.
For the cancellation coverage, $2,000 is included, however, the customer can choose to increase this value to $5,000, $10,000, $20,000 or unlimited, although sub-limits do apply.
There is no dedicated cover for missed flight connections, and instead Allianz offers a broader compensation under ‘travel delays’. Allianz will pay up to $250 per person (except under Single or Family cover types where an aggregate limit applies) up to a maximum total of $500 for travel delay of six consecutive hours, as well as for each subsequent consecutive 24 hours of delay.
