Aretha Franklin’s funeral is today, Friday, August 31, and it’s an event worthy of the Queen of Soul. Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson, Ariana Grande (and Pete Davidson!), President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, and Tyler Perry have already arrived at the Greater Grace Temple in Detroit, in addition to her friends and family. There will be a roughly six-hour service, called Franklin’s “homegoing,” with more than a dozen musical performances, including Grande, Wonder, and Hudson, and Faith Hill, Chaka Khan, Jennifer Holliday, Fantasia, and the Clark Sisters. Activists and politicians will address the crowd including Bill Clinton, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and former U.S. attorney general Eric Holder.
Guests arrived in style in 130 pink Cadillacs, the subject of one of Franklin’s songs, “Freeway of Love.” (“We goin’ ridin’ on the freeway of love / In my pink Cadillac.”) To see some of the people who are paying respects to the greatest of all time, check out the tweets below.
