Alan Titchmarsh will probably go down in history as the most famous gardener of all time. Having made his major breakthrough on TV while getting his hands grubby on Ground Force in 1997 the green-fingered superstar has gone from strength to strength.
While most people probably still connect Alan with gardening he has certainly shaken off his hand trowel and spread his wings in the broadcasting world. As well as presenting BBC's Ground Force and Gardener's World he also presented on The Great British Village Show (2007) to Popstar to Operastar (2010), Antiques Roadshow specials (2005) to Britain's Best Back Gardens (2015).
And the hit shows keep coming with four seasons of ITV's Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh under his belt and no doubt he will secure a second series of Alan Titchmarsh: Spring Into Summer this year. Plus he is sure to delight audiences with many more shows that warm the co*ckles of one's heart.

As well as presenting the 72-year-old is a successful novelist with seven books to his name, plus two biographies and hundreds of radio appearances. It comes as no surprise that The Daily Express estimates that Alan is reportedly worth a whopping £7.1 million.
Alan is also luckily enough to have been happily married for nearly half a century. He and his wife Alison tied the knot on July 26, 1975 and have two children together. The couple reportedly split their time between a grade II listed Georgian farmhouse in Hampshire and a coastal home, near Cowes on the Isle of Wight.

Alan is also said to be extremely pally with the future king of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Prince Charles, having worked together on TV and radio shows over the years.
Such was his solidarity with the Duke of Cornwall that he refused to watch The Crown, and speaking last year about the Harry and Meghan interview, Titchmarsh said it was “sad” what Prince Charles had to be put through, The Mirror reported.
He said: “I think it’s sad he’s had to be put through what he’s been put through, but he’s got enough people, I hope, who value what he does and who can see what he does and can field for him."
But it appears the gardener wasn't best friends with all of the royals. In fact, he once royally ticked of Prince Phillip. Alan once revealed that Prince Philip wrote him a three-page letter to light-heartedly tell him off for failing to mention his contribution to royal gardening.
Speaking on ITV's 'Prince Philip, Fondly Remembered', Titchmarsh laughed as he remembered the moment.
