How do airports detect drones? ›

Airport drone detection solutions, like advanced micro-doppler radar, accurately track drone activity in any condition. Traditional radar technology is very good at picking up objects with a large radar cross-section (RCS), like manned long-distance aircraft. But it can struggle to detect increasingly miniaturised commercial drones, many of which have the RCS the size of a bird.
