About Bless This Mess | Easy Recipes from a Hobby Farmer & Mom! (2024)

Hello! I’m Melissa, the heart and soul behind Bless This Mess, a place where I share my passion for simple homemade food and the joys of homesteading. Born in Indiana, a true Hoosier and Midwesterner at heart, I now find myself rooted in the picturesque landscapes of Southern Utah with my husband, Thomas, our five wonderful children, and a bustling backyard farm.

My Journey

My blogging journey began in 2009 as a simple way to keep my family updated on our lives. It quickly evolved into an archive of cherished recipes and stories, starting with my famous caramel dip for apples. Over the years, this space has grown into a thriving business that supports my family of seven, allowing us all to dream bigger and create a life we love.

At Bless This Mess, you’ll find an extensive collection of recipes that cater to all tastes and occasions. From hearty breakfasts to decadent desserts, my goal is to share recipes that are not only delicious but also approachable for home cooks of all skill levels.

My blog is a testament to my belief in the power of homemade food to bring people together and create lasting memories.

My Recipes

Each recipe on my blog is a reflection of my journey through food and family life. I believe in the importance of nourishing our bodies with wholesome ingredients, which is why I’m passionate about growing my own food and sharing my harvest through my recipes. Whether it’s a simple sourdough bread or a festive holiday treat, my recipes are designed to inspire joy in the kitchen.

My Cookbooks

Drawing from the wealth of experience and recipes I’ve accumulated over the years, I’ve also ventured into publishing cookbooks.

My cookbook books are printed in Utah, USA.

They are spiralbound hardcover books meant to last for years. You can buy both a physical copy of the books or a digital copy.

Book 1: Family Dinner Made Easy: Summer Recipes : 6 weeks of 5 dinners, 1 snack, 1 dessert planned for you with shopping list and meal prep lists OR use as a traditional cookbook with my favorite dinner recipes!

Book 2: Family Dinner Made Easy: Fall Recipes : 6 weeks of 5 dinners, 1 snack, 1 dessert planned for you with shopping list and meal prep lists OR use as a traditional cookbook with my favorite dinner recipes!

Book 3: Sourdough Made Easy : Everything I learned teaching THOUSANDS of people sourdough in 2020. Helping the internet troubleshoot common issues helped me to be able to write this book and help so many people get to their first loaf. Sourdough is magic and this book is a testament to that.
