This book is almost a century old but what you learn from it is timeless nonetheless. The secret to being the ‘richest’ man is actually not that big of a secret, however, most of us don’t do it. Clason advises you to pay yourself first and live within your means, something many Americans struggle with. The whole book is a very quick read and lays a solid foundation for changing your relationship with money. A lot of the advise seems common sense, however most don’t follow it. #2: RICH DAD POOR DAD – ROBERT KIYOSAKI
This book changed my life and I don’t say that lightly. Robert teaches you the fundamental differences between how the rich and the poor approach money. This is the book that completely changed my mentality and thought process. Kiyosaki talks about what the rich and poor choose to spend their money on. The rich buy assets and the poor buy liabilities. This book also completely destroys the myth that you need a lot of money to get rich. You can get rich on any salary or income, it’s the way you choose to spend that money that makes the difference to you bottom line. The biggest reason people don’t become millionaires is because the conventional paths that we are given in life don’t lead to wealth. We are taught to work hard when young so we can have money once we’re older and can retire and enjoy it. But why should we wait? By multiplying everything you think you need to do by ten, you will always exceed your goals and even surprise yourself along the way. This is a great book that talks about the difficulty of going from nothing to something (or one). although there a re a lot of things I disagree with peter about, this book is a must-read. The hardest thing in any business is getting that first sale. Getting your first sale is harder than getting your tenth. A lot of life is like this, it’s harder to go from zero to one dollar than from $100 to $1000.
